Patented fibre technology developed by Zelfo Technology transforms 100% renewable or recycled cellulose fibres and water into self-binding Zelfo^® material. Zelfo offers unprecedented environmental, performance and design attributes for enhanced paper production.

The original research and development programme was designed to convert Zelfo into a self-binding board material for flooring, wall paneling, and furniture. This work has indicated that both the Zelfo material and Cellulose Optimization Resource Efficient (CORE) technology could have other potential uses.

Resource-efficient production:

CORE technology enables the modification of cellulose fibres using minimum energy. In certain circumstances, CORE may also be employed to increase energy and water efficiency in pulp, paper and board production.

Enhancing end-product properties:

Using Zelfo as an additive to paper and board making stocks to improve end-product performance.

Utilizing pulp and paper mill waste:

Zelfo may be developed from pulp and paper mill waste, providing an opportunity to monetize existing waste streams.
